Easy Homestyle Sausage Biscuits and Gravy

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Ground Pork Sausage
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 2 1/2 c milk (add more at the end to desired consistency)
  • to taste cracked black pepper

Instructions
 

  • In a nonstick pan over medium heat, brown your sausage. When cooked through, drain the majority of the grease and discard, but leave a small amount in the pan for added flavor.
  • Press the cooked sausage to the perimeter of the pan, leaving a few inches of space in the center. Add butter and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  • Once butter has melted and is simmering, whisk your flour into the butter, then toss it together with the sausage to coat and evenly distribute.
  • Add milk and stir. Bring the milk to a simmer, stirring occasionally. Once it begins to boil, you'll notice it quickly becoming thicker. Remove from heat once your desired thickness is reached (this happens quickly so keep your eyes on it)! If your gravy thickens too quickly or you'd like it to be a little more runny, stir in more milk (about 1/4 - 1/2 cup at a time).
  • Taste test and add cracked black pepper! It should not require any salt or seasoning, but you can always add a bit of salt for added flavor. Serve over your favorite warm buttermilk biscuits!

Notes

Storage tips: Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a small pot on the stove over low heat, stirring frequently (add more milk if needed during reheating).
