It is my belief that Fall is best spent in the kitchen. Gathered there with babies running around my feet, football on the tube, and the comforting aroma of a cozy meal. Each year when “gamedays” return and the air grows crisp, I crave soups… and they just so happen to be my favorite meals to make. This August, I’m jumping the gun with a recipe that provides the perfect bridge between summer and fall. I call it, white wine and rosemary turkey soup.
White Wine and Rosemary Turkey Soup Recipe
This white wine and rosemary turkey soup not only is a marriage between two beloved seasons, it also mimics the flavors and feels of the holiday season. This makes you appreciate those final barefoot days in the grass while also unlocking the holiday season butterflies! The white wine and rosemary are both light and vibrant like the sun, but aromatic and comforting like the holidays! When paired with smoked turkey, they will send you straight to Thanksgiving day.
The best part about this recipe? It’s a “dump and leave” recipe. Throw it all in the crockpot and leave it alone for a few hours, and that’s it. No back-end instructions, simply come home, scoop, and serve!
Speaking of coming home, let’s talk about that. Because there is something magical about coming home to the scent of rosemary and white wine. On the day I cooked this (ahem, dumped these things into the crockpot…), Matt came home and said “wow, it smells like Christmas in here”. Yes, yes it does… thanks for noticing.
Simple Soup Ingredients
For this recipe, I suggest you use a cup of dry white wine, such as chardonnay, but you can use any white wine variety you please and you can also forego the wine if you don’t have any on hand! If you are hesitant about using the wine because you will be serving your family and children, don’t be! The alcohol content of the wine will cook out of the soup, so (unfortunately), you won’t actually feel any of the effects (which you wouldn’t feel anyway because of the small ratio).
This recipe requires only a few simple ingredients that, besides the turkey, you likely already have in your freezer or pantry:
- Cooked/smoked turkey
- Broth (Bone Broth by “Broth By Design” is the game changer!)
- White Wine
- Mixed Veggies
- Scallion whites (or white onion)
- Wild rice
- Rosemary
The “magic makers”, however, would be the three ingredients that give this recipe it’s name “White Wine and Rosemary Turkey Soup”. Those three ingredients lift this recipe from your average crockpot soup to Thanksgiving table status, while remaining easy enough to whip up on a busy weeknight!
Enough small talk, let’s get to the GOOD stuff! Find my cozy and delicious recipe for my white wine and rosemary turkey soup below.
