There are SO many things to keep up with when it comes to staying healthy, and unfortunately the understanding of this fact can defer many people from attempting to do so. Making sure that we get enough calories, protein, fiber, healthy fats, nutrients, exercise, sleep, water, and more… it can just seem so impossible to do it all! Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can really seem daunting and like a third (or fourth or fifth) job in addition to all the other responsibilities we might have. Oh, and if you have kids, FORGET IT, right? WRONG, it doesn’t have to be that difficult! The secret is all in the small choices you make – when grocery shopping, planning your day, packing your lunch, and more. Making a few small and easy daily habit shifts can drastically improve your overall health, and I want to share one of my favorite healthy habits with you today! One of the easiest ways to maintain overall health consistently is through smoothies. Smoothies make it is so easy to mask those key nutritious players that you wouldn’t otherwise incorporate into your diet. While making smoothies consistently might seem daunting at first, my 4 simple smoothie recipes for full body health are easy, quick, and last for a couple of days in the fridge! Making these smoothies ahead of time actually proves to be MORE convenient than trying to heat up a quick oatmeal in the morning and chopping up some apples to go on top. Check out a few of my favorite smoothie recipes below and make a commitment to getting your goods in this week! You will be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to do so ?.
You have probably seen some of these smoothie recipes on my instagram story (check out my instagram profile to see healthy smoothies and meals made daily), but I’ve included more detail in these recipes for your convenience! One thing to note about my smoothies is that I never add Ice, so your smoothies are always full to the brim with goods, and not with space-filler! They are made of 100% real food ingredients that you can enjoy guilt free. In addition, you can always manipulate ingredients and amounts to your desire ?. That is the beauty of smoothies… anything goes! ??
**Please note – I am a Biology teacher by day and science the sh*t out of my smoothie recipes. I design my recipes to cater to specific needs so that I can make one that best suits my body’s needs of that particular day/week. While ALL of these smoothies contain a large list of healthy benefits, I have highlighted the primary benefits of each based on the main ingredients involved.Â
Simply and Healthy Smoothie Recipes
Power Green Smoothie: Ideal for immune support, hearth health, and detoxification. This smoothie packs a powerful punch of green goods that are sometimes difficult to fit into a daily meal. It is high in Vitamin C, Omage-3’s, antioxidants (anti-aging benefits), and ITC’s (isothiocyanates which are helpful in eliminating toxins at the cellular level). You might wonder if this highly “green” smoothie taste like…well… a green smoothie, but I purposely selected fruits that will mask the green flavor easily without overpowering in content. Ginger and Pineapple are both great ingredients to cut flavor that you don’t particularly like since they have such a strong flavor themselves. This smoothie will turn out a beautiful and bright GREEN color, but it will taste like it is fresh off out of the tropical fruit tree!
Power Green Smoothie Recipe:
- 2 Stalks Celery
- 1/2 Cucumber
- 1 handful Kale
- 1 handful favorite greens (spinach/arugula)
- 2 Tbsp Ginger root (doesn’t have to be grated)
- 1 Pear (or apple)
- 1 Cup Chopped Pineapple
- 1 Kiwi
- 1/2 Cup Orange Juice
- Squeeze of Lemon
- 2 scopes Collagen Peptides from FurtherFood (use code MESSYDESK10 to save money on your order)!
**Blend all ingredients in a powerful blender. I recommend the Blendtec – while there are many other great brands, Blendtec has a horsepower of 3 (highest I’ve seen in popular brands) which is ideal for me since I like to be a bit lazy and blend large chunks of fruits and veggies! **

Pretty Pink Power Smoothie: This smoothie is ideal to combat aging as it is packed FULL of antioxidants with all those dark berries! Also heavy in fiber, this smoothie tastes like dessert but will be a healthy treat to your cells! Antioxidants are great in fighting aging in cells (the result of shortened chromosomes each time a cell replicates) by neutralizing free radicals. “Free radicals” are molecules that are destructive to cells and antioxidants help to reduce the production of these molecules. The high antioxidant content is just one of the many benefits this gorgeous and delicious pink smoothie will provide!
Pretty Pink Power Smoothie Recipe:
- 1/2 cup raspberries
- 1/2 Cup Blackberries
- 1 Cup Strawberries
- 1/2 Cup pomegranate seeds
- 2 bananas
- 1 apple
- 1/2 Cup Orange Juice
- 2 scoops collagen peptides
**Blend all ingredients, pour, enjoy, chill, and repeat!**
Berries and Greens Smoothie: This smoothie is one powerful brain-booster as it is high in it’s phenol content (which are Nuero-protective agents) as well as antioxidants! Refer back to my pink smoothie recipe to see all the benefits of antioxidants on your cells ???. There are a million other benefits to this powerful smoothie, but the clarity of mind is my favorite ??. It might be all in my head, but the science backs it up so I’ll take it! Try this one out today and you won’t be dissapointed!
Berries & Greens Smoothie Recipe:
- 2 handfuls of Kale & green of choice (spinach, arugula)
- 1/2 cucumber
- 3/4 Cup Blackberries
- 1/2 Cup Blueberries
- 1 banana
- 1 kiwi
- Lemon squeeze
- 1/2 Cup Orange Juice (I use simply orange not from concentrate)
- 2 scoops collagen peptides.
**To make this smoothie higher in greens, cut the berries by half and add an apple instead of kiwi (to even out the green taste). Then, your smoothie will turn out like the one pictured below ??????!
Cool Green & Mango Smoothie: This smoothie is a friend to your digestive system and provides good pregnancy support for all you soon-to-be mommy’s! It’s high iron content & numerous digestive enzymes (primarily from the mango) makes this smoothie ideal for pregnancy and for soothing your system after a few too many Christmas treats ?. Plus, the ginger content can help to reduce nausea from morning sickness ??. Another awesome truth about this smoothie is it’s COOL GREEN color ?. It is a gorgeous light green and will leave you feeling refreshed all day!
Cool Green & Mango Smoothie Recipe:
- 1 peeled & chopped Mango
- 2 kiwis (leave skin on for fiber)
- 1 c. Chopped Pineapple
- 1 banana
- 2 stalks celery
- 1/2 chopped cucumber
- 1 pear (or apple)
- 1/2 cup kale/spinach/arugula (pick your green)
- 2 Tbsp ginger rood (doesn’t have to be grated)
- 2 scoops collagen peptides
- 1/2 Cup Orange Juice
**Blend in a powerful blender, pour, and enjoy! Then, chill and enjoy again tomorrow ?.
One thing you might have noticed throughout my recipe’s is the addition of FurtherFood Collagen Peptides. Y’all, these have been my best friend in cooking this past week as they are SO EASY to incorporate into virtually any meal! They are completely void of any texture or flavor making them perfect to dissolve into smoothies, soups, potatoes, sauces, really anything! Collagen Peptides are proteins that make up a large percentage of the structural protein content in our body and can drastically improve skin, hair, and nail health. Head over to their website to read more about the amazing benefits of FurtherFood Collagen Peptides and use my code MESSYDESK10 to save 10% on your order! I hope you give these a try, I am confident you will love using them as much as I do (and as much as you love the results they yield ??).
